Anonymous asked: The canon 24-70 might be one sale because the mkii is coming out soon. But the one that i would consider to be more of an interesting topic is the tamron 24-70 with vc. Tamron usually offers very affordable, and sharp alternatives over the oem. Would you consider selling your 28-75 tamron, in order to fund this lens if its good and at a reasonable price point?
Nah, I wouldn’t. I’m perfectly content with the 28-75/2.8 Non-BIM, and it’s an excellent performer especially for the $250 price tag that I picked it up for (used). Sharp wide-open, the Non-BIM relies on the D700’s af sensors and in-camera AF motor (which is accurate and fast since it’s a prosumer camera body), and that’s all I would want in a mid-range focal length zoom. The VC isn’t a big deal to me at that kind of focal length because while it’s nice, I still shoot at least 1/100-200sec anyways (which is enough to freeze static or slightly moving subjects) which would render VC as somewhat unnecessary.. Especially since it would merely add to the price tag of the new Tamron 24-70.
