f/1.4 isn’t necessarily better than the f/1.8, but it has better bokeh and takes in more light. The FX 50mm will always be a 50mm lens, but you’ll get a 75mm field of view when used with a DX camera. If you shoot with an FX camera, though, you’ll get the lovely 50mm field of view!
